Enroll at Middle-earth University

Okay, it's not quite Middle-earth University but theonering.net has put up a new post about a 10-week Online Tolkien course Cardiff University is offering.

Students spend their time studying mythologies behind Tolkien's works such as The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and The Silmarillion. The course, led by Dr. Dimitra Fimi, also includes research into Norse mythology, where Tolkien drew inspiration from for his books.

One of the coolest parts is a focus on his invented languages and the races of Middle-earth. So you could come out after 10-weeks speaking fluent elvish...maybe not.

There will be two more courses running this year, the first beginning 19 January 2009 and the second on 27 April 2009.

If I weren't doing a course in journalism already I'd be straight there. I think there's only potentially one course that could top this one: ice-cream eating. 20 credits for adding sprinkles.
